Luisita Revisited

He is “Kumander Sambo” as the military calls him. He recalls how he and other protesting farm workers climbed up the tank that was supposedly aimed to roll over the protesters during that infamous day of November 16, 2004. He has been arrested and beaten and allegedly been forced to sign an NPA rebel surrenderer’s filler although he is not one. I remember him in 2004 eagerly waving a red flag and on the front of the pack when the protesters and police clashed. Today he enjoys listening to his MP3 player while working on his rice field inside the contested Hacienda Luisita.
